But, here it was the summer of 1979 and I was watching a television series that premiered fourteen years before, enjoying it far more than the newer network shows. This was the late 1970s, the heyday of strong women battling crime. At this early age, tough women weren’t new to me I was a regular viewer of Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, Charlie’s Angels, and Police Woman. I was but nine years old when I witnessed this on television. Leaving the wounded man a crumpled heap on the floor, Honey West exits the room. Just as swiftly, she leaps on him, landing a well-placed knee to his body and forearming his face with a bone-crunching thud. Unfazed, the blonde keeps nonchalantly searching until - in a flash - she hurls the suitcase at him, knocking the gun from his hand.
